Income TaxReturn filing, planning, capital gains and notices — for salaried individuals, professionals and businesses across Vadodara.
Do you need an income tax consultant?
If you are salaried with one employer, no other income and no capital gains, filing your own return is genuinely straightforward — and we will tell you so rather than take a fee for twenty minutes of work.
The calculation changes once there is more than one income source, a business or profession, property or share transactions, foreign income, a notice in your inbox, or TDS that isn’t reflecting correctly. Those are the situations where an error costs considerably more than the advice.
What an income tax consultant actually does
Three things, in order of how much they matter. Making sure what you file is correct and on time. Telling you — before the year closes, not after — what you can legitimately do to reduce what you owe. And answering properly when the department writes to you.
Most of the work is unglamorous reconciliation: what your books say, against what your return says, against what the department’s records show. When those three agree, compliance is quiet. When they drift apart, you get a notice.
A notice is rarely the first sign of a problem
It is usually the third — after a mismatch nobody checked and a reminder nobody read. Most of the notices we are asked to fix began as a small reconciliation gap eighteen months earlier.
What we handle
Return filing Which form applies to you depends on where your income comes from — salary, business or profession, house property, capital gains, or some combination. Choosing wrongly is the most common reason a return comes back marked defective. We establish which applies before starting, not after the portal rejects it.
Tax planning across the year Regime selection, timing of investments, how a business is structured, when an asset is sold — these decide your liability, and most have to be settled well before the year ends. We would rather have that conversation in July than deliver bad news in March.
Capital gains on property and shares Property sales and share transactions generate the questions we are asked most: what the gain actually is after allowable costs, which exemptions you may qualify for, and what has to happen — and by when — for those exemptions to hold. Getting the sequence wrong can cost more than the tax.
Notices, intimations and assessments Not every letter from the department is a problem. Some are routine intimations needing a small correction; others require a properly drafted response inside a fixed window. We read what is being asked, tell you which kind you have, and handle the reply. See notice assistance.
TDS and tax audit If you deduct tax at source, your returns and credit reconciliation must line up with what your deductees see in their own records. Whether a tax audit applies depends on turnover and, in some cases, how much of the business runs through cash. Tax provisions, thresholds and due dates change. We check yours against the current position before filing rather than working from last year’s assumptions.
Who we work with
- Salaried employees with more than one income source, or capital gains to report
- Professionals and freelancers working out advance tax against irregular receipts
- Proprietors and partnership firms running business income alongside personal income
- Companies and LLPs wanting accounts, TDS and returns handled by one team
- Anyone who has received a notice and has a date on it
How we work You are told what is happening at each stage rather than left waiting for an outcome.
Understand the position
What income you have, from where, and what has already been filed or deducted. We look at your records rather than starting from a form.
Collect and reconcile
This was the first period when Consulting WP actually felt like it would stick around for a while. We realized we were growing more stable and expanding at the same time. We needed a new office as we had severely outgrown the last one. We started scouting for a new location.
Compute and review
We prepare the computation, identify anything that looks inconsistent, and raise it with you rather than filing around it.
Your confirmation
You see the computation and the return before submission. Nothing is filed on your behalf without you having read it.
File and verify
The return is filed and verification completed. You receive the acknowledgement and a plain-language summary of what was filed.
Track what follows
Processing status, refunds, and any intimation that arrives afterwards. We flag your next set of due dates in advance.

What goes wrong most often
Filing the wrong form
The form depends on your income sources, not on what you filed last year. A change in circumstances — a property sale, a new business, foreign income — can change which form applies. Filing the wrong one gets the return marked defective.
Not reconciling against tax credit statements
The department already knows what was reported against your PAN. Filing without checking your return against those records is how mismatches surface later as an intimation.
Leaving regime selection to the last week
The choice between regimes depends on your actual deductions, and for business income it can carry consequences into later years. It is a decision to model, not to guess at in March.
Missing the sequence on capital gains exemptions
Several exemptions depend on doing something specific within a defined period. Sell first and ask later, and the window may already have closed.
Ignoring an intimation because it looks routine
Some intimations need nothing. Others start a clock. Reading it properly takes ten minutes; missing the response window costs considerably more.
Assuming TDS deducted means TDS credited
Deduction and credit are two different things. If a deductor has filed incorrectly, the credit does not reach you — and you find out when your refund does not arrive.
What it costs
Fees depend on the complexity of the work rather than a fixed price list. A single-employer salaried return sits at one end of the range; a business with multiple income streams, capital gains and a notice to answer sits at the other.
What moves the number: how many income sources there are, whether books need reconstructing, whether capital gains computation is involved, whether representation before the department is required, and whether you want ongoing support or a one-off filing. We quote in writing before starting.

Most income tax clients also use ITR filing and tax planning. If a letter has already arrived, start at notice assistance. Businesses usually pair this with accounting, TDS compliance and GST.
Income tax questions we are asked most
It depends on where your income comes from — salary alone, salary plus house property, business or professional income, capital gains, or foreign income and assets. The form that applied last year may not apply this year if your circumstances changed. We establish which one fits before starting, because filing the wrong form is the most common cause of a defective return.
Yes, and it is worth getting right. Where you changed jobs mid-year, each employer will have applied deductions and exemptions independently, which frequently leaves tax under-deducted overall. We consolidate both Form 16s, recompute the correct liability and tell you what remains payable before filing.
The gain is the sale consideration less your cost of acquisition, cost of improvement and transfer expenses, with indexation applied where it is available for your holding period. Exemptions may reduce or defer the liability, but almost all of them depend on doing something specific within a defined window. Talk to us before you complete the sale if you can — the planning options narrow considerably afterwards.
They are two different rate structures with different treatment of deductions and exemptions. Which one leaves you better off depends on your actual deductions rather than on any general rule, and for business income the choice can carry consequences into later years. We model both against your real figures rather than applying a rule of thumb.
That means your deductor has either not filed the TDS return or has filed it with an incorrect PAN. You cannot claim credit that the department has no record of. The fix is with the deductor — they need to file or correct the return. We identify exactly what is missing and give you the specifics to take to your employer.
Sometimes yes. Filing becomes compulsory in several situations regardless of income level — including holding foreign assets, certain high-value transactions and specific deposit or expenditure thresholds. There are also good practical reasons to file voluntarily, since a return history matters for loan and visa applications. Tell us your situation and we will confirm.
Once the return is filed and verified, processing timelines vary. Refunds are held up most often by a bank account that is not pre-validated, a mismatch against tax credit records, or an outstanding demand from an earlier year being adjusted. We check all three before filing so the common causes are eliminated in advance.
Yes. Documents over WhatsApp or email, discussion by phone, and filing on the portal. We work with clients across Gujarat and elsewhere in India this way. Our Jetalpur Road office is open if you would rather sit down with the person doing the work, which some people prefer for anything involving a notice.
